Derelict Trench & Artwork Exhibition

This exhibition, kindly facilitated by Julie Hamer of local art group INCUBATION ARTS, in Churchill Chambers, Churchill Way, Macclesfield SK11 6AS

will run from January 13th – March 17th 2018.

Featuring a war damaged derelict trench with several authentic artefacts, visitors will sense the replicated battlefield smells of Phosgene, Chlorine, and Mustard gas; a much feared weapon of nightmares for many soldiers fighting in the trenches.

With several pieces of artwork, poetry and photography on display to compliment the trench, this is an exhibition not to be missed.

Here's just a few quotes taken from our visitors comment book;

"Excellent detail - as good as exhibition at IWM" - GR

"Brilliant how you've transformed the space, and I love the bit about Wipers Times!" - NP

"Incredible set up, would love to see more of your work" - Evan

"Fabulous trench, so glad we came" - Jo & FaY

"Excellent exhibition.....we must never forget all those brave soldiers" - Armitt family

"Really good. I think they have shown how it really was. AMAZING!!!!" - Lucy

The Trench Exibition was very well recieved with plenty of visitors through the door and £2000 was raised through donations and a raffle. Thanks to all who contributed.

Our recent contribution to the Christmas Tree Festival held in December at The United Reformed Church, was hugely successful.

The concept of The Lifeless Tree proved to be very emotional for some, and a major talking point for many more.

The 667 cards displayed on the tree, bearing the names of the soldiers can be seen in Macclesfield Library from December 28th – January 6th 2018.

Quiz & Raffle Prize Night at The Brewers Arms

On the 28th December, Jane & Kevin of

The Brewer’s Arms, kindly hosted a quiz and

raffle night, with Joe Hanrahan as quiz master.

In what proved to be a great night, a total

of £225.32 was raised which is a fantastic amount,

especially as it was a cold mid winter’s night, just after Christmas.

Our thanks to all those who attended, especially Jane, Kevin, Joe, and all the staff and helpers, for their tremendous support.
